Northwoods: A Novel by Amy Pease
5.0
I love books set in Wisconsin, so from the very beginning of this book I was absorbed by the setting. I could feel the heat of the lake water and hear the whine of the mosquitoes. But I quickly felt entangled in the lives of these messy characters as the understaffed sheriff's office investigated the murder and disappearance entwined in the opioid crisis. I felt the betrayal along with Eli, the terror for her child along with Marge, and the relief as the book came to a conclusion. I was sad to end my time with these characters and hope that they may return in a future story.
