I…really wanted to love this book. I finished it but I was disappointed. I don’t mind instant love stories, it’s a common theme for fae/dragons/magic folk to know their true mate on sight. I was annoyed by how long it took to explain ANY of what was going on. So many people not telling anyone anything leading to a bunch of pointless confusion and feelings of betrayal by different characters. I understand wanting to keep things interesting and keep the reader in the story but this book just did not do it for me. Naia and River ended up kind of irritating me with how they acted with each other and Ursiana was not a good character. The author was going for a redemption thing once her and the king finally talked to each other before her potential death but i didn’t come across well. And the whole turning Fel into a dragon thing at the end and having him flying away to who knows where with Leah magically not falling off was an odd choice, though since the whole point is his relationship with Leah you know he’ll find a way to change back.
