Thorn's Temptation by Rebecca Massey, Mary R. Cole

Following the path

When I first got this book, I thought it might be a rh/ why choose romance as it mentioned three alphas, but as I got further into this book I realised it was more a power struggle between three alpha cousins and Thorn being the youngest didn't want to make waves with Oak the alpha in charge of their other cousin Rowan who liked to push everyone's boundaries. Rue was a different character altogether. She wanted to be the maiden sent off into the woods, so she could escape the boring life she knew awaited her as a farmers wife. What she thought she knew of the offering turned out to be something completely different and even as her plan to escape was evaded at every turn, she knew the burning heat between Thorn and her would not let up. I felt that this para romance didn't really go into the shifter side much, the pack came across more human and didn't turn into wolves. Oak wasn't a real alpha to me, he was lazy and a tyrant, barking orders and living off his entertainment. Rowan was just waiting for his time to strike and lend the pack, but came across as flakey. Where as Thorn seemed to cower at first and I wasn't rooting for him as Rue's partner until she came into heat and she causes the males to attack.
