The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson
5.0
Oh, Maureen Johnson, you have done it again! The Box in the Woods was such an entertaining read. This book had everything I loved about the Truly Devious series and more!
- more Nate being Nate! I loved him in the first three books, but wished he was in the forefront a bit more. Nate and his attitude are right there with Stevie (and Janelle)
- Stevie Bell and her sleuthing.
- a horror-slasher-type murder taking place at a SUMMER CAMP. Thanking my parents each and every day for never sending me to camp, I've seen Friday the 13th too many times.
I could be wrong, but I feel like this book reflected more of Stevie's perspective than Johnson's other three books. Overall this book had a great balance of setting the scenes and providing great dialogue without either one overpowering the book. YA Mystery/Suspense/Crime/Thriller is such a great genre! YA has been killing the game lately and this one is no different.
