American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Did not finish book.
I remembering reading this back when it came out in the early 2000s and enjoying it. Unfortunately, my recent attempt to reread this brought to light just how much I've changed as a reader. I was buddy reading this with my friend, Kritika, and I was struggling to read it. I wasn't liking it and to be honest it was creeping me the hell out. I love Neil Gaiman and his writing but I've come to realize that I have a love-hate relationship with his books. I love his lighter stuff like Stardust, Neverwhere, and The Graveyard Book but hate his darker stuff like this book. Don't get me wrong, the man is a genius but his darker works terrify me. I'm just going to mark this one as not for me and move on. I've read it before so I know what happens and I'm fine with once being enough.
