Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

5.0

When I finished this book, I had a stupidly large grin on my face and literally said out loud, "that was fantastic".

The story sucked me in at first with careless mentions of previous adventures (that we weren't privy to and I wished I could have read them), but felt bogged down around 25% of the way through with the dreaded teenage angst between Simon and Agatha.

I'm so incredibly glad I persevered - it got infinitely better around the 40% mark.

Is it terrible of me that I completely forgot Simon Snow and co were first mentioned in [b:Fangirl|16068905|Fangirl|Rainbow Rowell|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1355886270s/16068905.jpg|21861351]? That it was them she was writing fan-fiction about? Completely forgot until I read the author's note. Oops.

SpoilerSimon's obsession with Baz seemed a little off and I harboured a suspicion that perhaps he was obsessed for a completely different reason than he realised. My flagging interesting perked up when Baz's narrative revealed that he was in love with Simon.

I was positively giddy when Simon kissed Baz.

It was really cute.
