Homecoming: Reclaiming and Championing Your Inner Child by John Bradshaw
Did not finish book.
i tried to get through this book over the course of probably a couple of years..
i've always been one for self help, especially if you're unable to access support... but this book nearly changes my whole perspective on that.
i only kept reading for the odd nugget that felt genuinely helpful or meaningful – all of this saying, I do NOT recommend this book in any way.
it's very outdated and i feel has a very narrow audience in mind (perhaps white, cis, straight, neurotypical people?). i found the language and content as a whole very odd and at times disturbing (i.e in depth descriptions of guardian sexual abuse.. for what??).. and if i recall correctly the author stated not to engage in the suggested activities if you have any form of ptsd.. yet.. this is a book on healing from childhood abuse/trauma....?
I could go on – just don't do it. There are so many better resources out there.
