The Ghosts of Rose Hill by R.M. Romero

4.0

I think the messages within this book are good and the verse itself is beautiful. There are a lot of lines that are definitely quotable. And I really liked the peek into Jewish culture and history....as well as about what it means to honor the dead.

But I just can't give it five stars because of a couple reasons.
First, the main character feels so detached from everything for the majority of the book. Like....a literal monster is in front of you and you're just like WELP OKAY JUST ANOTHER TUESDAY. I am not a part of either culture represented, so maybe I don't get it because of that?
But it feels a bit unbelievable.
Second, I also thought the romance was way too love at first sight, ride-or-die, 4EvA AnD aLWaYs. Like...you just met a couple weeks ago....and one of you is barely corporeal. Calm down.
I liked it. I just wish I liked it more.
