Wow, the tension in this book really builds and it's tension in an every day life type of way, not a big mystery or event like we get with thrillers.  Masterful!  As someone whose husband has dabbled in writing for Hollywood, many observations rang very true.  Definitely has a dark humor to it and I don't always do well with that type of writing but I think with the tension, it just worked for me. Great social commentary on race and the author is mixed-race and her work reflects mixed race life in America and more specifically, California. The author says this is a love letter to LA and it definitely gives a very LA vibe. An entertaining and refreshing read.
