A second-chance romance very much set in the world of politics, which was a bit much for me. I liked the main character’s growth but found her hard to relate to.

Rom/com with Lee, a communications director for a Tesla like car company trying to get a bill passed but has to work with the ex she cheated on 5 years before, Ben. Story goes how you would imagine, with the drama and then attraction and then drama.

Fool Me Once is a quirky and fun read. Lee Stone is smart, strong, and funny. She also has her issues which we see come out during the story. While this was a fun read for me, it had some cringe moments. It made me say “Girl what are you doing?!” more than once. I think that is what makes Lee relatable. The other characters are not perfect and some are not likable at all. The energy between Lee and Ben is great. The playful banter between the two had me laughing. I kept saying “Just kiss already!”
This is not my normal kind of read and I’m glad I took a chance on it! It was fun along with some heartfelt moments that caused me to tear up. This is a new to me author and I will be looking into her other book. If you love fun quirky romance reads, I highly recommend you check this book out! I give it 4 stars.

this is a book about people cheating? seemed like the main theme and I don't really think it works as a romance... not a huge fan. the book was entertaining but the main character was super frustrating and acted really immature for her age and career? not to say that she shouldn't be fun and wild but I found it difficult to believe some of the shit that she would do, think, say.. also Ben deserves way more.

To my soul, I'm a chicken so I didn't read Ashley's debut. I'm too timid to crack open thrillers often so I had to jump on the chance to read her romance debut.
Lee Stone, aka Stoner, doesn't believe in lasting love. With her history, one can't blame her. She is the ultimate professional at work and the a disaster when 5 o'clock hits. As the opportunity to push the Green Machine bill through to Texas law, Lee has to join forces with the only one that got away.
The writing is engrossing and I couldn't look away. There's much to like particularly with the romance and the glimpse into dirty politics. My struggle is that I'm not a fan of a self-destructible heroine. Her constant sabotaging soured my tastes for the story. That aside, I'd love to read another Ashley Winstead romance.
Thank you to HTP for the gifted copy and NetGalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Very similar to The Boyfriend Candidate, same author. Democratic, Political, Texas, mixed with love. I really like the second chance-I’ve never stopped loving you trope.

Read this one after the Boyfriend Candidate. Preferred the second one to this one but an ok read. Liked the characters better in the boyfriend candidate.
