James Crews should be a household name among contemporary poets; a "poet's poet," if ever there were one. I enjoyed Telling My Father so much, and reading Bluebird makes me feel as though I'm able to see how that story continues. I look forward to the next chapter in Crews' autobiographical body of work.

The poetry book Bluebird by James Crews has many wonderful poems in it. This book is a wide variety of open-hearted chronicles of the poet's life on an organic farm with his husband. There are many wonderful poems in this book that really help you feel what he was feeling and experiencing. I would say this book is for higher grades, like high school and middle school.
