After discovering a few years ago that I actually really love Where the Wild Things Are, it's no surprise that I compare books to it a lot. This is a Wild Things in reverse - and I loved it! (Plus, it won the department's Mock Caldecott!)
Troublemaking, thickly outlined Mr. Tiger breaks free from his stifling Victorian gentleman’s clothes and returns to his wild roots, bringing color, jovial expression and wild jungle sense back to the city of animals.

I enjoyed this book, as I do all of Peter Brown's works. I even ordered an autographed copy of this one! Great illustrations, as always, and a quick story.

Mr. Tiger is tired of being prim and proper and so begins trying new things. First walking on all fours, then not wearing his stuffy suit. His friends aren't sure how to handle his "wildness" and tell him to go to the wilderness if he wants to behave this way. Mr. Tiger is excited about this and heads off. Although he is happy with this new way of living, Mr. Tiger also becomes lonely, so he decides to go back to the city. He discovers things have changed a bit.
Wonderful book with a great message. Be brave, be yourself.

No longer content with "the way things were," Mr. Tiger bucks convention and goes wild, first by walking on all fours, and ultimately by heading to the jungle. A simple book with charming illustrations and the importance of being yourself.

Illustrations, naturally, are fantastic. Theme a bit cliche. Let's just all be ourselves - can't through a dead cat without finding another picture with the same. Now the book about a dead cat flying through the air . . .

Mr. Tiger is tired of being so prim and proper. So he slowly starts to go wild, much to the dismay of his friends. Cute
