A great ending to a great trilogy. There were bits in this that I found comically stupid but King himself poked fun at his own naming conventions so, not sure what to think about that lmao. I dig the supernatural stuff, it was teased in the last book so it didn't come out of nowhere, and I thought the set up was really interesting. Looking forward to the rest of the Holly books... after a bit of a King break. :P

This was a strange read for me. I felt myself losing steam at many chapters
relating to telekinesis and honestly just the whole plot line of brady going into people’s minds
however I loved getting to read more about Holly and Bill’s friendship and business with one another. Holly is such a great character throughout these books.

RIP Hodges
😭

This was a tidy, if suicide-heavy, end to the Hodges (and Brady) trilogy. I wish the telekinesis aspect had been explored a little more... Like... He could do it with the devices but also without them? There also weren't as many cop/crime details, which is fine w me honestly, but I guess having read The Outsider first, I was hoping for some exploration of how they figured out whodunnit. Not Bill Hodges' problem, I guess he was more focused on revenge 😂

Oh well, looking forward to moving on to more of Holly's adventures!

True to form, King generates a fast-paced "race against time" story while our anything-but-fearless trio of investigators work to discover the cause of a group of suicides.  By now, we already know it is the near-vegetative villainous survivor of Book 1, but can they all figure out what the readers have spelled out for them in time?

And, true to genre, King sets a number of clocks ticking all at once to come together in a climactic scene. Our heroes fumble and stumble a bit often, but so does the villain, and the result would be almost comedic if it was not so deadly. Yes, it's a tried and true thriller.

And that's . . . all it is. King sets his sights higher in other novels, takes on bigger fish. But this is Indiana Jones 4, just another ride for characters we have come to love (in the first novel), appreciate in personal growth (in the second), and now complete the stories for (a yeoman's task here). Do I sound disappointed? Yeah, a bit. The plotline for our horror is overly convoluted and overly contrived; at times I found myself crying, "Oh, come on!"

But then I remember what I asked for: I wanted a trilogy ending, wanted to see the return of Brady, wanted to feel more of that Stephen King acid detail and character grit. And he gave it. Case closed.

I don’t know how Steven King is able to write a detective trilogy where we as the reader know everything that is happening, but are still completely intrigued as the detective is finding it out. I thought this was a great ending to a wonderful horror trilogy.

Honestly this trilogy has started a new obsession with Steven King and now I have plans to read everything he has written.

Overall it was a well-written story and a decent conclusion to the trilogy. It was unexpectedly a little sci-fi which I didn't buy. The weakest of the 3 books. Felt odd that the 1st and 3rd focus on Brady but the 2nd was mostly different people. Like oh, we're going back to this guy? OK.

<SPOILERS>
Not only was it unbelievable that Brady's gun shot was stopped by a bunch of stuff in Freddie's breast pocket but you're telling me she could fit all that stuff in her breast pocket?! That's one hell of a pocket capacity!
