Read via audiobook. Good read. The stakes felt higher in this one.

I started trying to read this in physical form and then realized how much I missed the narrator so I moved to audio. I will (listen) to every single Stevie Bell book every released. I absolutely love this cast of characters and the mixture of history and mystery is right up my alley. The narration is so delightful with just the right amount of snark so you’re laughing out loud as Stevie solves another crime. I will say that this one is a little darker than the others, but it was just as good. Keep going, Maureen Johnson! We’re all reading along.

sometimes all you need is a good ol' murder mystery to get out of a horrifying reading slump- thank you to the box in the woods for being that book for me!

God I love Nate in the most platonic, non-touchy-feely way possible. Respectfully.

I think this one was my favorite so far if I’m being honest. I didn’t really expect the ending result.

Maureen, you've done it again! A wonderful story that was a great sequel to the original series. A lovely mystery that's perfect for true crime fans.

I really liked the other books in this series but it’s been a few years since I’ve read them. This one just didn’t hit the same? Some of the dialogue came off as cheesy. The plot was good and I couldn’t have predicted the outcome, but throughout the book I definitely winced with secondhand embarrassment with the dialogue

This book felt like home. It’s been a long time since I laid in bed unable to sleep due to not finishing a book and this did it for me.

I loved how much of Nate we got in this book. I will admit I never cared much for David but I’ve come to love him. And I’ll forever adore Stevie and Janelle’s friendship and how well anxiety is expressed.

The way Stevie pieces together crimes will always be amusing and amazing. *chef kiss*
