Jane Taylor tells a good story here. She captures the feeling of displacement in many of the characters who yearn for home. The events take place over a long period of time which unfortunately has persuaded the author to tell rather than show. Many paragraphs go on for longer than a page. I was also irritated by some odd formatting in the Kindle version. I wondered why there was an extra line between paragraphs.
