Pretty forgettable. I didn't really like this entire series, I don't like rockstar romances. This is Rye and Brenna's story. Rye is the bassist of Kill John and Brenna is the band's PR person. Rye overhears Brenna talking to a friend that she can't find any decent sex and he offers a friends with benefits situation to Brenna, which she turns down at first because he's "shamed her sex life" up until now. Rye defends himself that he treated her like one of the guys, but that's also just part of the band's not being emotionally open with each other.
Rye has to work a ton to get Brenna to trust him and they have a lot of steamy sex throughout the book while hiding their relationship from the band. Then there's the plot/conflicts.Brenna gets a job offer at a prestigious PR firm and she seriously considers it, even though it means leaving the band. At the end she announces that she's going to start her own PR firm, focusing on women-first! (/facepalm) but she'll keep Kill John as a client.
Rye's secret is that he's suffering from arthritis or something in his hands? When he has flare ups he can barely play. He admits this to his band they accept him and are shocked he was hiding it. So now the band is a happy family. Jax is with Stella and has gotten help with his depression and suicidal tendencies. Killian is with fellow rockstar Libby. Scottie is with Sophie and their kid(s). And now Rye and Brenna.

“Over the years, I had to cover myself in a shell of icy perfection. My power is in maintaining the illusion that nothing can get to me, and I accept that as part of doing business. But some days? Some days, I want to crumble. I want…comfort, touch, release.”
4.5⭐️ brenna was my fav from the beginning and rye was intriguing character. their story didn’t dissapoint.
such a two strong, complex, selfless characters who founded peace within eachother. home. safe space.
“I gave voice to my problem, sent it out into the night, and, in doing so, I allowed it more strength.”
“She’s glaring hate fire up at me, which I know is a defensive measure. When it comes to the two of us, we both come out swinging, so very eager to hide any hint of weakness.”
“But she’s also a major part of my life. For better or worse, we’ve been in each other’s pockets since we were headstrong teens.”
“And then he blushed. A soft wash of red across the tops of his cheeks and along the curve of his ears. Which is the moment I truly fell for Rye Peterson, the hot, muscled man-boy who blushed just as easily as I did.”
“It takes me a good minute of intense silence to fully process that Rye has admitted he’s lonely. He’s never shown me any hint of personal weakness. I haven’t either. To expose our underbellies is to open ourselves to taunts. It’s just how we are with each other.”
“He knows this is about Brenna. I know this because we can both read each other like a billboard.” - i was kinda sad we didn’t get whip’s story
“I didn’t lose him, but it was close. Too close. It shattered something in me. I hate that I can’t control this.”
“How the fuck…?” “Because I know you,” he says softly, firmly. “And what do you get out of all of this?” “You.” His fingers stroke my braid. “I get you.”
“His lips come within a hairsbreadth of touching mine when a laugh bursts out of me. He pulls back as I dissolve into a helpless ball of nervous, snorting giggles.” - this was so cute

Rye is THE book boyfriend.
The way he remembers every little thing about Brenna??? Even when they weren't together????got me swooning.
I LOVED seeing the other couples aswell, the found family trope is one of my favorite and I adored the way the were always there for each other.

It took me a while to get into this book (I switched from the audiobook to the ebook because I wasn’t loving the female narrator), but I ended up really enjoying it.
Not a whole lot happens story-wise, but Brenna and Rye were so likeable and I found them pretty relatable for a rockstar and the band’s PR rep. The FWB arrangement they ended up in was hot without being super kinky (honestly, rare), but the thing that won me over was all the non-sexual affection that slowly crept into their relationship. 🥹 Yes, I’m a sucker for cuddling.
