This is a very eye opening book, I understood that the US has been moving to fascism at an alarming rate but I did not realize the full extent of it. Now in this current political environment, this is probably the most important book to read.

Stanley goes over the many rhetorics within fascist politics in a historical and present tense way. I found it easy to understand and very heavy in how reflective it was

It’s chilling to read this as we have just entered another Trump administration/era in the United States (also, can we change our country’s name? It couldn’t be less fitting anymore.)

I encourage everyone to read this (if you have capacity, as I recognize the devastation and heartache seems fucking insurmountable right now) to see the ways that America’s political and cultural climate have mirrored what Stanley illustrates in this book.

Please continue to pour into your cup, so that you can continue to show up in the fight against these shamefully xenophobic, racist, transphobic, homophobic, and disgusting policies that this ugly ass orange man and his cabinet are enacting.

this is a great introduction into fascism. the title is quite literal in its about how fascism works & how fascism rhetoric/tactics ensnare certain populations/people groups to advance an agenda. this book is about how the rhetoric works, what it entails, and ways to recognize when someone is spouting it.

I imagine this will be a good companion to Stanley's How Propaganda Works book, but thats next on my reading list! how fascism works doesn't necessarily cover how to COMBAT fascistic ideology/rhetoric, but it's a great start in one's understanding of it as a whole.
