A tennis romance, finally. It’s neat to read a book that comes from a time before same sex marriage was legalized. It’s also great to read about a tennis book, since most gay sport romances are about football or hockey.

I love the characters, Luke’s realistic fears, and Jesse’s readiness to change history in tennis. Luke’s Mom is a gem, and it’s good to see his friend Mike work through his own prejudices and come back to their friendship.

This is a fun book, full of romance, sport suspense, and a happy ending.

Luke is an older professional tennis player who's focused on only tennis and winning. When Jesse, an up and coming tennis star, asks to start playing doubles to help their game, Luke can't help but be allured by the younger man's charm. Jesse is everything Luke didn't know he wanted, but being together could risk everything they've worked for.

This book is single POV from Luke's perspective. Luke is passing the prime of his career and also recovering from the tragical loss of his partner a few years prior. When he meets Jesse everything changes and Luke is challenged to step outside his comfort zone and go for what he wants regardless of the consequences. I adored Jesse. He's young and hopeful but also stands strong for what he deserves. Luke is a bit stubborn, but Jesse knows what he wants and doesn't accept anything less, even though it hurts. They're such a swoony and sexy couple. Their road to a happy ending wasn't easy, but ultimately worth it.

This audiobook just worked really well for me. It was shorter and I was able to just zone out and get immersed in the story. I don't think I've ever read a tennis romance and it was cool to have a new setting and to learn a little about the sport. There were just a lot of things in this story that really worked for me - the length, the tropes, the writing. I thought both characters were endearing and I'll never not be happy with big old Hollywood ending like that. Plus all the epilogue content was adorable!

Read if you like:
• tennis romance
• age gap
• secret relationship

Five more minutes

I’m always a fan of sports romances and have a soft, fuzzy spot for tennis. There were times reading this that I wanted to shake Luke but I also sympathized with his fear. Thankfully Luke’s family and friends are awesome and of course, adorable, amazing Jesse is a patient and excellent is worth it all. I’ll happily admit these two volleyed their way into my heart.

3.5 stars.
This is Keira's debut book, which was recently republished. No revisions were done to the book.

I loved:
- Both characters.
Luke was hot and possessive and enamored with Jesse
Jesse was sweet and a bit damaged an a bit naïve.

- The tennis backdrop and how it brought them together.
- The tiny bit of breakup angst and how they couldn't stay away from each other.
- The supportive parents.
- The Steam: Keira can write some hot sex scenes lemme tell you.
- The epilogue: short and too the point, with a glimpse to the future.
- The Bonus epilogue which was swoony and sexy.

Niggles:
I really do think the book needed a bit if revision and tightening up. It would have made it a much more entertaining read. especially with Jesse's teenage year-trauma.
There were some things that were too abrupt for my liking and needed a bit more focus.

I received an ARC from GRR and this is my honest review.

One of the few Kiera Andrews books I was pretty disappointed by. Run of the mill sports romance, one of the MCs was a major asshole who did not do enough growth or groveling to deserve the other character imo.

DNF ~25%

Normally I don't give my DNFs higher than 1 star, but I do think that's a little unfair. If I'd been in a different mood I'd have probably finished it and I think 2 stars would have been about right. The feelings moved far too quickly for me, and I'm just not a fan of the "dead past lover" trope. Not terrible, but Andrews has definitely improved a lot over the past 15 years.

OH this was a Steamy little Sports Romance!! We have our older tennis player Luke and we have our younger up and coming player Jesse! Luke is having trouble finding his game and takes Jesse up on an offer to play doubles! These two have off the charts chemistry from day one. Luke is hesitant at first since he has not been with anyone since his last lover who was his coach who had passed away two years ago.. Well lets just say he cannot resist our sweet blushing Jesse!!! Jesse turns out to be very innocent which is a big favorite trope of mine!! So the steamy times become sweet as well with these two! I do not want to give too much away about what happens with their Tennis careers so you must read yourself!! I think the only thing that would made this better for would have been for it to have been told in Both POV, but Luke tells us a very loving story! Luke is very caring and protective of Jesse. I received an ARC of this book and I recommend for those who love an age gap, innocent lover romance with a side of Sports!!!
