It's really not fair to the story of this book, but I hated one of the perspective characters so much that it was distracting. Miller was just completely unbearable. He wasn't poorly written, but I couldn't stand him at all. It made it hard to enjoy anything about the story, even the parts I should have liked.

reread 2024:

This was a lot of fun to return to. While it contains one of the weaker sets of POV characters in the series, with only Holden and Miller, the plot is compelling and I love the Rocinante crew with my whole heart. Miller is still a "sad, strange little man" (literally heard that Toy Story dialogue in my head often while reading his sections) but the book (and even Miller) is definitely aware of this and ruminates on it to an extent that I didn't really remember from my first read.

excellent spaceship content. excellent space family content. excellent "weird alien shit" content. a winner for me.
