A fantastic space epic with a large cast of driven characters and a plot that keeps on giving. It's only drawback is it's drawn out ending that leaves it feeling like sometimes it trying too hard to be more than it needs to be.

Leviathan wakes is a heart pounding space epic, set around a large scientific conspiracy that finds humanity facing it's possible extinction head on.

The story displays a diverse cast of characters that all compliment yet challenge each other to a perfect degree. Though sometimes relationships feel underdeveloped, the intensity of the plot and slow unravelling of the greatest threat humanity has ever faced, keep pushing the characters forward and challenge the very fibre of their being.

The main short coming of the story though is it's staggered climax. As the final crescendo builds, the story begins to feel dragged out. Constantly bouncing us back and forth between the 2 leading characters, as they face problem.after problem. Solving one, only to have another two arise in its place.

Eventually though, this space epic brings itself to a satisfying close. While still leaving enough loose ends and compelling questions to allow the expansion and development of this already, intricately woven tale.

It took me a little to get fully invested in both POVs, but I ended up loving it all by the end. The action sequences were well written and I was actually nervous at times. It's mostly plot driven, but I think the characters had their moments to shine.

It took some time for me to get into it. That's more a reflection of me and not of the book. The plot was more of a "how are these things connected?" at the start and that didn't draw me. Once it became a "oh shit THATS how those things are connected" story, that's when I was hooked!

Ohhhh….fun!
I haven’t watched the tv series and didn’t know anything about plot when I picked this up.
I just couldn’t put it down and had a great time reading it!

Told in alternating viewpoint between two main characters, I didn’t get a good feel for the grand picture of the story until over halfway through, but that was fine as the characters were also figuring things out. Some pretty descriptive gore and body horror in a few parts.

I’ve got book 2 on hold at library and am looking forward to starting it soon!

A solid conglomerate of familiar sci fi tech, themes, and tropes. The book expertly offers just enough explanation to keep the story going without delving into a thorough scientific essay.

The sophistication of the technology and the sheer scope of the setting are well thought out and affect the story in a meaningful way.

The characters are a little undercooked in this one, but that's to set up and focus on the relationship between Holden and Miller.

Holden and Miller getting a lethal dose of radiation and having to rush through Eros to escape was so intense. What a great scene that played to both character's strengths.
