To be honest, I was a little hesitant giving Jen Davis another chance after finishing "Brick", which left much to be desire with it's plot, characters and lack of connection on my part. I said 'why the hell now?', what's the worse that could happen? Needless to say the author was able to redeem herself since I enjoyed reading Kane's story a lot more than I had originally expected to. Obviously Kane and Amanda's storyline was filled with some violent scenes, not much as "Brick", gang club activity, and drug use which tied together the entire story and the leads journey back together. The connection between the characters were a lot stronger than the first book and as a reader, you're able to feel the their pain and heartbreak between their broken relationship. Moreso, a decent read with likable characters and a solid premise.

After reading and enjoying the first book in the series Brick I could not wait to read this one and it did not disappoint. It did take a couple of chapters to pick up but once it did I was absolutely hooked. While Kane and Mandy's book could be read as a standalone I think they are better if read in order. I would recommend this series.

Ok, so I fell soo in love with Brick in Book 1. I still think about him. Lol. Anyways, so Kane. It was a rollercoaster and at first, I didn't enjoy the ride but then there was a certain point where i thought ooh, i got to put my hands up for the rest of this ride.
Kane and Mandy are long lost loves who were separated due to hate by others. They are fighting each other, fighting others and then they team up and take on their world. Overall, a really good book. I look forward to the next one.

You meet Kane in the first book. I knew his character was going to be intense. This storyline proved that. Mandy walked away from him a long time ago thinking she was protecting him. But now he is all she needs to be strong and get away from her father. Kane is dealing with a lot but Mandy is always there to help. But will someone tear them apart and take their future once again? Loved it. Intense interesting gripping a shocking moment you definitely didn't expect. But Jen made this book freaking amazing. I absolutely loved Kane . Hoping for more from these guys. Highly recommend.

focuses on the past and present of Kane and Amanda's relationship but also the obstacles around them. This is also not only a second chance at a relationship but a second chance in life.
While I would classify the book as a dark read I would not call the romance itself dark.
This is a story with many ups and down with many surprises. I liked the dual POV and the MC plotline.
I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an unbiased , honest review.

Amanda has never stopped wanting Kane, but her father is still controlling her, she never told Kane the truth why she left him and doesn’t know if she ever can, nothing has changed, but her brother tells her it’s time to stop keeping secrets, but she knows she can’t. The problem was, since her brother’s accident she had to see more of him, dealing with everything about the business.
Kane knew Amanda was his one weakness but she threw him away and ripped out his heart years ago, it doesn’t stop the way he feels when his near her, or the confusion when he can see how see feels, but he has to focus on the club and the decisions he’s brothers are making that don’t sit right with him.
Kane hasn’t any idea why Amanda would want to talk to him, but when she does, he never expected her to tell her what she did. The way she looks at him with sorrow in her eyes he wants to take it away like he used to, and when their lips touched, he felt like he was home, he thought they could have what they did, but he needed to know what went wrong.
Everything felt right with Kane, but she knew she had to be honest with him, and she had to deal with everything for them to make it work this time, and not let anything come between them again.
Can they work through the lies and manipulation that keep them apart to get their second chance.

Picking up the pieces after the end of book 1 of the series, as in literally picking up body parts, Kane is not for everyone. There is a very clever structure at place. Who doesn’t want to know more about a construction company full of super hot, alpha males with mysterious pasts? The Enforcer for a crime boss was first up, perhaps the ex-special ops soldier, or the silent guy with a family secret may be next. This time, however, is the bikie who never wanted to be.
Kane never wanted to join his family in the MC. He wanted a life, and a family, and he wanted it with Amanda. The same Amanda who now runs the construction company he works for. Of course Amanda never wanted to be living a socialite life at the beck and call of her cold hearted father. She never wanted to be blackmailed into socialising with a man her father wants a favour from. All she wants now is to save her step-brothers construction company no matter the price. Even if it means being at the mercy of her fathers whims. Even if it means having to spend time with the only man she’s ever really loved, Kane.
Kane and Amanda were torn apart by lies, betrayal, and family obligations, but they get a second chance to find each other. Although they are going to have to wade through an ocean of blood and hurt to get there.
For many people this book is going to be too much. Not every romance reader is going to want a book that needs to come with trigger warnings. I have to admit that I needed to skip passed a few of the more brutal parts. However, the kind of readers who loved Sons of Anarchy, or who thought that Jamie Macguire’s Beautiful Disaster was tame are going to love this one.
For me, although I like an alpha male, I need a little less violence. 2.5 stars
