Very well written book with plenty of action and well developed characters. Can't wait to see what happens next!

1. The most interesting characters in this book are Miguel Reyes and Agent Harris. I badly want a buddy cop story starring those two and I really hope the later books have that.
2. Apart from that, it's fast paced... but not really compelling like most of Korman's other works. Meg and Aidan are sketched out characters and not really all that emotionally compelling. The mechanics of the kids being on the run were interesting, but also not enough to substitute for emotional impact.
3. Onward~

Great description, wonderful action but a must-read-book-two series. Very interested to see what happens & how he continues it.

A nostalgia read for me so it doesn't feel fair to give it a star rating, but I might pick up the rest of the series for the sake of completion

I absolutely loved reading this book series when I was a kid, and the series has stuck with me for many years. I had to reread it, and I was not disappointed. From an adult perspective, the book is far from perfect, but none of the unrealistic plot points occurred to me when I was in the correct age range for this series, though, so for the purposes of rating it, I'm going to ignore those. Even as an adult and having read the series before, the book is incredibly engaging and entertaining. Highly recommend for any late elementary/middle school kid.

*Spoilers*
When their parents are recruited by the CIA, then accused of treason and jailed for life, Aiden and Meg Falconer are incarcerated in a juvenile detention farm. But they haven't given up hope for their parents' innocence. So when an accidental fire gives them a chance to escape the farm, they take it.
Together, practical, intelligent Aiden and impetuous, gutsy, street-wise Meg must evade the police, the FBI agent who arrested their parents and is now after them, and a mysterious assassin, to find Frank Lindenauer, their parents' CIA handler, the one person who could prove their innocence. Thrust together with a fellow inmate from the farm, they get a crash course in living by their wits in the streets in a big city. Lying, stealing--they don't like doing it, but it means survival--and hope for Mom and Dad.
When a long-forgotten clue leads to their old ruined summer home and a blurry photograph? When their fellow former inmate and now friend is shot by their bald follower? When 15-year old Aiden must drive the getaway car for the first time? It's their quest to free their parents that keeps them going.
