But despite how great the stories were (compared to the first one), I gave this one a slightly lower rating because of the misogynistic tones portrayed. I noticed it in the first book, but I brushed it off, thinking "it's a collection of horror stories with terrible people, surely it's like finding fork in a kitchen." But when it became a pattern, I felt a little miffed about it. Thus, no full 5 stars this time.
My ratings from fave to least fave stories would be: Jacqueline Ess:Her Will and Testament>Dread>Hell's Event>The Skins of the Fathers>New Murders in the Rue Morgue.
Minor: Child abuse, Cursing, Death, Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Gore, Infidelity, Mental illness, Misogyny, Physical abuse, Self harm, Sexual content, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide, Toxic relationship, Violence, Blood, Vomit, Stalking, Murder, and Gaslighting
