Karla Gracey has a way of creating a short story with well developed characters and plots. This book brings us Amelia, who is taking care of her 5 year old brother. Her father and stepmother are never home. Byron, the sheriff of Silver River is looking for a bride. I especially love these books because we get to see the correspondence between the two and how they get to know each other. Once in Montana, Amelia and Byron overcome some obstacles. Another winner.
I am so glad Alan Taylor is narrating this series. His rich baritone voice brings the feeling of the old west to the book. Love his performances.

Another sweet and fun romance for this series, Karla Gracey brings us Isabelle and John. Isabelle is a woman from a privileged background that is not happy with the suitors her family is trying to have her wed. John is the new sheriff in Faith Creek trying to rebuild his life after the death of his wife. The two correspond and Isabelle sets off to meet John. Little does she know, she is traveling directly into harms way, and who better to save her? A little suspense, a little romance and the perfect story is born!
A wonderful narration by Danielle O'Farrell is given for this story, her performance is perfect for this series.

Karla Gracey continues her Ruby Springs series with the correspondence between Winston and Carolyn. Winston is the doctor in Ruby Springs and is looking for a companion. Carolyn is looking for a way to get her family out of the tenament of NY. When tragedy strike Carolyn, Winston comes to see if he can help, but will it be enough to help and win her heart? I really enjoyed this installment, it was a little different in the content, not the usual storyline. Karla Gracey really gives a well developed plot with her short books creating a happy listen,
J. Scott Bennett continues the narration of this series with his calm and warm voice. He is perfect for this book.

This series keeps getting better and better. In this book we have Bernadette, a well educated woman who does an experiment to see if the men who write for a bride really would accept her as a lawyer. When Edward, the vet in Ruby Springs responds in a positive way, Bernadette is taken by surprise and finds herself intrigued by this man. Gracey continues to create a town of incredible character. Each couple has their own hurdles and personalities. This one really hits home with me, as a woman who wants the best of both worlds, professionally and at home. Edward proves there are men out there that welcome the well educated woman and believes in her ability to be both wife and working woman. For the times, this is unheard of! But is the beginning of what we have today.
J Scott Bennett continues to breathe wonderful life into these characters, giving them personality and charm.

Karla Gracey writes wonderful clean, historical mail order bride romances and the first of this series is just the beginning of another enjoyable listen. This one is a little different, not the usual maid or unhappy woman looking for a husband. Elisa is a widow with an 11 year old son being controlled by her in-laws. To get out of their clutches, she answers a letter in the paper. Tom is an man with secrets, but his housekeeper thinks he needs a woman. She places the ad in the paper without telling him. This unlikely couple finds themselves at a crossroads after spending a week of getting to know each other with her son. Will Elise be able to marry a man when she still loves her deceased husband? Will Tom's secrets be too much for the couple to bear? Take the journey with Elise to Eagle Creek and get to know the town, the people and fall in love. You will be looking for the next book in the series.
With J. Scott Bennett performing this book, I knew it was going to be a good listen. His narrations are always wonderful with his pleasant array of voices for his characters. He is a joy to listen to.

Just when I thought I found my favorite couple, I listen to this one. This book had me with Gideon. Gideon wanted to be the Governor o f Montana, but he needed a wife. Alberta was the daughter of a Boston politician and had all the connections Gideon needed. Perfect combination..she would get the family she wanted, he would get the election results he wanted. Little did they realized that love was on the horizon. Gideon, for all intents and purposes, did not want to fall in love, but I have to say, he was incredibly romantic right before their wedding(I don't want to give anything away!) Another winner by Karla Gracey!
Alan Taylor brings it again....love his voice for this series.

For such a short book this was quite good. Based on how much detail was given in the beginning, it would have benefited from being a little longer. It felt quite rushed. We spend a good portion of the story learning about Amelia's life at home, taking on more responsibility than is her due and ready to forge her own path in life. We get some back story on Byron and learn about his reasoning in posting the advertising. After she arrives in Montanna, Byron has arranged for lodging so that she has a place to stay while they get to know each other and to give her the chance to decide if she wants to marry or not. But suddenly she feels like he's holding back and she's worried he may have changed his mind, she gives him the chance to confide in her. All of that was great and wonderfully paced, but then if becomes very insta-lovey. Everything is perfect and they're walking down the aisle and her relationship with her father is fixed and her brother has his father back in his life and he's seen the error of his ways. And his selfish mother is keeping her distance. If this had been developed over several pages or a chapter or two, it would have flowed so nicely. But listed in what essentially felt like bullet points in the course of about two pages felt so abrupt.
