Love From Left Field is a pressure cooker of ego, tension and testosterone. Miranda has a lot on the line. Her family name, her father's love and her belief in herself as a businesswoman. Fighting for a place in the male dominated sports world will not be easy but dispelling all the naysayers is what she sets out to do. An arrogant male with an agenda is making her task difficult. Lucas second guesses her choices and distracts her with his take charge attitude and sends her body into hormonal overload. What's a girl to do when the man of her dreams is set on destroying her chances at success? Don't get mad, get even. Miranda proved she can play with the big boys. The heated battle of wills makes for a turbulent relationship delivers a sizzling story.

This is another great book in the Knights of Passion series! 4.5 Stunning Stars!
Miranda Callahan, President of the Georgia Knights baseball team, daughter of the owner, has struggled with her father to help turn the financially strapped team around. With a large loan payment to the League looming, she knows changes are necessary to avoid having the team ownership sold by the League's commissioner. Although she is President, as owner, her father does not listen to or respect her opinions even though she has an MBA and the experience to make sound decisions. When her father suffers a heart attack and is side lined, she steps in to turn the team around using her ideas and skills as a businesswoman.
Lucas Wainright, with his experience as a turnaround consultant sent by the League, enters the picture to either help the team become profitable and able to make their loan payment or the franchise will be sold. He reports directly to the commissioner and is seen by the Knights' staff as an outsider, albeit with his history of his deceased father having owned the team prior to Miranda's father, Seamus. Is he out for revenge or does he truly want to help Miranda save the team?
This story is at times both inspiring and heartbreaking. The way Miranda's father treats her for 95% of the book is despicable. She is a grown, well educated, experienced woman and yet he disregards her every move. He gives her little responsibility overall and yet she brings a profit to those areas she's in charge of. Both on a professional and personal level, he constantly berates her, telling her HE is the owner and will run the business as he wants, making all of the strategic decisions, even though she is the president. Even when Miranda takes over while Seamus recovers from his heart attack, he is constantly at odds with her, to the point that her mother asks her to limit her contact with him.
I honestly had a hard time wrapping my mind around why she would stay and take that kind of emotional abuse. Yes she loves her father but his disrespect for her intelligence is appalling. But when Miranda FINALLY digs in and truly stands up to her father, I was cheering her on!!
As for Lucas, I think he was a great character. Yes, he had some issues of his own to work through (not to give anything away) being back in the same offices, stadium, etc. he had been in with his father as a young man, but he shows a level of maturity in handling that - he makes his own decisions.
And that, to me, is the secret gem that underlies the whole story. Where Miranda cannot work hard enough to earn her father's respect, Lucas gives it to her unconditionally. He makes suggestions as a consultant, but admires and respects Miranda's brains and determination. And Miranda, although she knows she's going against her dad's wishes, works hard to execute changes that will help the team turnaround and become profitable. Here are two strong, capable individuals who view one another as equals, not as two people tearing one another down. Especially refreshing in a male dominated business!
And yes, the romance was a perfect balance too!
I would definitely recommend this book!

Lucas was sent to help a flailing baseball team, Miranda wanted to help convince her father to try new things with the team. With a heart attack, a new business plan and lots of fireworks, Miranda and Lucas not only save the team, but find true love along the way. This book was another fabulous read in the series. The chemistry between the characters was spot on, the baseball jargon was perfect and this one had more family dynamic issues that made the story interesting to read. Overall a great read in the perfect baseball setting.

While I did enjoy this story I have to admit that it took me until about the 40% mark to really get into it. The book started out with good intentions. However the start was a lot about the baseball side of it and less about the actual hero and heroine. It was all that baseball talk that made it hard for me to really enjoy. Around the 40% mark the H/h started to really get somewhere and I started to feel the relationship develop. I also found it hard to really take a liking to Lucas. He was a little closed off and hard. Miranda was sweet and caring with to much stress and pressure on her shoulders. Good book, good concept, wish there was more detail into their relationship.

Love from left field is the second book in the Knight Of Passion series and it can be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed this book and I connected with Miranda and Lucas. When I was done reading the first book I knew that Megan Ryder has talent and she proved it once again in Love From Left Field.
Miranda is president of the Georgia Knights (a baseball team based In Georgia). Her father, Seamus Callahan, is the owner of the team and he likes to have things done its way. She is trying to make her father proud but she has to deal with the fact that her father is not listening to anybody but himself. They are going through some financial struggle and Lucas Wainwright is coming on board to see what can be done to save the team. To make matter worst, Lucas’s father was the previous owner of the team and he is feeling that Seamus stole it from its family. On the other hand, Lucas and Miranda are feeling a deep connexion and a physical attraction that can’t be denied. Then, Seamus has a heart attack and Miranda must do some needed change in the Georgia Knights, she knows that her father won’t be happy about it but she has to do it to save the team and to prove to herself that she can make it.
What I really like about Miranda is her strength. She is able to step up when she needed to and knows that she has to work on the relationship with her father. He is not an easy person to be around and it is hard to gain his trust. Even though her father is not perfect, she loves him dearly. I love how the author is exploring that father/daughter relationship and to see Miranda finally break free from her father control. Lucas and Miranda are working together professionally and decided to date. Then again, it is not an easy relationship. The fact that Lucas and Seamus are not liking each other is a recipe for disaster.
Lucas Wainwright is all about business and work. Even though he is attracted to Miranda, he doesn’t want it to come in the way of the task he has to do. That is until he decided to kiss her, from that moment on, nothing was the same. He is a guy that is down to earth and he is not looking for love. He is travelling a lot and has no place that he can call home. While growing up he always had a crush on Miranda, they never dated but the attraction was already there. Seeing her again set a lot of emotions free, some that he never wanted to deal with. He decided to man up and get to the bottom of the story. Sometimes our perception can play a trick on us.
This is an excellent book, this is not just about baseball it is about love and a reminder to be true to who we are.
