I was so excited to jump back into this series and was glad to read that we were back with Antsy and the rest of the kids in the school. Not only that, but it was quest time again! I enjoyed all of the world jumping (though I did think from the cover that we would be spending more time in the dinosaur realm than we did). I really enjoyed the plot and couldn't put it down. Lots of great quotes in this one!

'Almost always' is a very different thing from 'always'. Lives are lived and lost in 'almost'.

Questions are like coats: you can turn them inside out when you need to hide from the fairies. Nothing sees you when you're cloaked in a question with its seams showing.

Last names could change, and being a part of a family didn't mean people wouldn't hurt you but it was still something wonderful.

We're perfectly normal in the right environment.

People who can't change aren't really perfect.

Just because someone hurt you when you were a child, that doesn't make it right for you to hurt anyone else.

People who've been hurt often think they have some sort of right to go around hurting other people...They think trauma's a toy to keep handing down forever. But the fact that someone hurt you and tied you up in knots doesn't give you the right to do it to anybody else.

Despite the rules against it, Antsy and her friends at Eleanor West's Home for Wayward Children find themselves on a quest when Antsy opens a door to escape from a bullying classmate. The path home is never straightforward.

As in previous books, McGuire handles her character's trauma with care and thoughfulness. We get a resolution to the stories of several characters and learn more about others. I can't wait to read the next one!

This was a really strong entry in the series and I'm mad at myself for taking so long to get to it. (also, not to be dramatic but Sumi and Kade mean everything to me and I would literally die for them)

I didn't love this as much as previous books in this series.  this is the first of them I've read on audio; I didn't love the narrator, so maybe that all played a part in it  there was just a lot of conversation and a lot of grief and rage.  which were valid,  but not fun to read.
