I honestly felt that some of the depictions of native cultures were fetishistic in a strange way. The author definitely depicts colonization in a bad light, so a generous read is that it's attempting to explore similar topics in a way that doesn't glorify them... but it didn't feel quite right to me personally.introverted_reads's review against another edition
