This book was so angsty omg 😅🤭

I loved seeing Lucas and Alex’s bond and seeing them go from best friends to lovers with the heartbreaking stuff in between. I loved seeing their friend group and how they all cared about each other 🥹🤭

I honestly don't know how I feel about this book.

A part of me wants to rate this 4 stars, another wants to rate this 2. So I guess I'll stick with 3 stars.

I don't mind angst but honestly this books was just TOO MUCH. It was so unnecessary and it was just drama for drama sake. The book spends wayyy too much time in the past and we hardly get 2 scenes with them actually happy together. They literally do not get together until like 94% into the book! That's not even worth it and at that point I didn't even really care anymore.

I think the book should've focused more on them as a couple and less on their childhood and all the ways that they fucked up (and trust me, it goes into graphic detail into all the ways they fucked up, in every literal way of the term). I liked the characters even though they were a bunch of idiots at times but I honestly found myself wanting to skim because there was just so much unnecessary and repetitive details.

I like the secondary characters too and a part of me wants to read their books (I bought all the books in the series when they were on sale) but another part of me doesn't know if I could read this kind of OTT drama/angst for angst sake/they don't get together until the last 5% kind of love story. Also the writing isn't that great.

The only reason I kept reading was because a part of me wanted to see how things would end for everyone. I knew they'd get a HEA but I guess a part of me hoped it'd be this huge thing that would make the wait and all the shit this book puts you through, worth it. It honestly wasn't.

I'm happy I read it because this has been on my tbr for years and it's been bugging me that I never read it. I'll probably continue with the next book one day but I don't really have high expectations.

Whew! That took for. ever. I always dread a new series because of all of the foundation that has to be established, but man, this was long and drawn out. I abandoned it like 5x. Too many good reviews to fully abandon though. I'm glad I finished it.

There are soooo many words I need to use to describe this book.

Phenomenal
Breathtaking
Heartbreaking
Love
Gutting
Soul-gripping

This book has made its way to the top of my favorite reads. I couldn't put this book down. When I had to I was rushing right back to it. I am not going to post any spoilers because this is a book you need to read it.

Now Lucas definitely brings the hurricane and I did want to punch him at multiple times but I am forever #TeamLucas. The relationship Alex and Lucas have is gripping and has you wishing for a good outcome and happy ending. They have a love that is soul shattering. Once you witness this you feel like they are standing right in front of you fighting for their lives to have each other.

I absolutely loved this book and connected to it like I have never done with another book. I sobbed, I laughed, I yelled, I cursed and I found myself hating the one person I can't hate. Lucas was doing everything he could to give Alex a chance.

The conversation with Lucas's mom was the final straw that broke the dam of emotions that I had been trying to contain. My heart was officially broken open. All I could think was M really wanted us to feel the love and pain in both of them.

Now you need to go and read it because it was honestly one of the best books ever written and is my favorite book. I can't wait for the remaining books to come out and see how the others boys handle life and love.

M I have to shout out to you. You are an incredible writer and this book deserves to be on the National bestsellers list! I have faith that we can make that happen with word of mouth and promoting this book the way it deserves. Thank you for allowing me to have a copy and to review it.

I have to pack it in. With much regret, I have to DNF it. It takes a lot for me to get to this point, but I don't want to read about a 14 year old losing his v card in my fake world or 12 year olds kissing. Polite pass. I get needing a back story but I feel like it's dragging on and I just can't take it anymore. I'm sure this ended up a lovely story but I can't get past all this kid stuff. It's just not my cup of tea.

Devastating coming of age love story, with an epic happily ever after. I absolutely loved this book, even though it broke my heart into 1 million pieces. Make sure you have a box of tissues handy! I can't wait to read the rest of the good ol' boys' books!

Ok hear me out. I started this book, read up to chapter 2 and then I put it down—not because it was terrible but because I read a review and it turned me off to the book. HOWEVER, I am all for everyone having an opinion on a book because every book has a different effect on each reader. SO as soon as I got myself together, I picked it back up last night and I had to FORCE myself to go to sleep. If I didn’t have shit to do today, I would have just stayed up and finished it. Ugh. ADULTING IS NOT IT.

I was graciously gifted this book by M & her team since the cover was recently changed and let me tell you. The new covers do the book justice. Absolutely love them. Now going into my review...I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK. I loved the story, the main characters, and UGH the side characters.

Let me tell you what I loved:
•The friend group. The friend group and how they were with each other were my favorite. I esp loved how protective they were of Alex. YES. Alex is the glue of their friend group and the relationship she has with each of them was so pure and beautiful. I loved her description of each of them and how well they all knew each other.
•I loved Lucas and Alex’s friendship. I loved how in tune they were with each other, how close they were, how they always found their way to each other no matter what. Their friendship pissed me off at times because WHY. HOW ARE YOU BOTH LIKE THIS? LOL Esp Lucas, ugh. I loved him, but sometimes he just made me mad.
•The character development especially the development of side characters. It made me want to read the other books in the series
•THE ANGST. Omg. Leave it to M to make a friendship to lovers book angsty af. AND I WAS HERE FOR IT.
•The push and pull was well written. The timing was never right for them, but it worked for this story. Though I did start to hate M about 70% into the book I was like “Girl...just let them be happy

Complicate Me was my first book by M. Robinson, and that was all that it took. i am a fan for life. i discovered the Good Ol' Boys series when Crave Me kept popping up on my recommend list on Amazon, and discovered that it was the 4th book in a standalone series. i purchased all of Robinson's books after reading the reviews that i read, and i was not disappointed.
Complicate Me is the story of Alex (Half-Pint) and Lucas. Their story was one that started when they were younger and follows them through their adolescence, teen and then through their adult years. The story is one that takes you through their friendship and their wanting more, but Lucas not being able to bring himself to admit that he loves Alex more than just as a friend.
You are also introduced to the rest of the Good Ol' Boys; Dylan, Jacob and Austin, that play a part of the in Alex's life. They are there for all the heartache and ups and downs in teach others lives.
Robinson takes through a life time of heartache that you think that there is no chance that these two people will ever be able to find their way back to one another. But, then once you think that you will be crying your eyes out because these two people couldn't get their lives together and realize that they are what each other needs in life, she puts your heart back together again.
