lighthearted
slow-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? Character
- Strong character development? It's complicated

Disclaimer: I did not realize that this book is from a series so I may be missing context.
It was a struggle to enjoy the book. Frequently before a major plot point, the book would spend a large portion of the time catching up the characters to what previously happened (and this would have multiple times before moving on). The book was rather predictable and everything had to have a perfect happy ending even if it came a bit out of no where.

After suffering a series of blows: her parent's death, realizing she is a pauper and reliant on her relatives - Temperance rediscovers her spine and freedom. Then she is kidnapped and wakes up in a coffin bound for Chicago.
Maybe a 3.5, a bit predictable and a bit to tidy for me even though it is a HEA romance.

Felt a bit longer than necessary. But I thoroughly enjoy this one by Jen Turano.

A fitting end to the wallflower trilogy. The events of the book are outrageous and amusing.

This one was good! I really enjoyed watching the developing feelings/relationship between Temperance and Gilbert. It was cute and funny!

I loved this book! I actually really enjoyed the entire series. But then, I've yet to meet a Jen Turano I do not like! :) Her characters are so flavorful! is it sad that the males are actually my favorites of the pair each time?! They are always so quirky in some way. :)

Caught by surprise by Jen Turano
Thought from the summary of this book it was not one I'd be enjoying, thinking of abduction and things smilar to SVU from tv shows.
I was totally wrong and this is a fun read. Temperance is abducted and Gilbert is the one to find her-in Chicago. She tells him of her ordeal, her old time friend who they grew up together.
Just when you think the Pinkerton man has found the culprits other clues come into play. and just when you think it's been solved again, MORE clues are told.
So many secrets from the past come to light making the mysteries believeable.
Love hearing of how astritic she is in everything she touches. Like mention of the Vanderbilts and Astors from Newport, RI and their cottages-we had just visited one of the marble mansions and I can see how theses characters would fit right in.
This book is not only about Temperance but others, Clementine and all the others who come to play a part.
So many twists and turns, very unpredictable.
I was able to listen to this from the National Library Service and each character had their own voice-was a fun read for me.
Although this is book 3 it can be read as a stand alone.
