A fantastic conversation-starter. As with most books for this age group, the women's lives are simplified, with messier details omitted. They can learn more about each person from the bibliography at the back, which would begin more complex conversations with time. But the main takeaway here is that there are so many modern Muslim women who are influential, brave, intelligent individuals making waves at the community level as well as the global. I appreciated the array of ages and experiences. Perhaps in the future there could be another title exploring Muslim women of the past who defended their people and opened libraries, as described in the beginning? That would be wonderful!

Muslim Girls Rise is a straightforward and charming book that gives us a beautiful and inspiring history of nineteen different contemporary Muslim women who have impacted and continue to impact the world. The illustrations are gorgeous, the storytelling style is straightforward and simple, and the message is clear, bold, and empowering. Definitely recommended!
