This was a fun, whimsical read. Imagine if someone with no practical understanding of a cat's biology or the laws of reality but who really loved cats wrote a book about them. That's this book. While it was a light, charming read it did start to drag as there is an utter lack of character development or through narrative; it's just a love letter to cats.

Surreal to the point of incoherence.

This is advertised as a novel, but it has no plot and several of the chapters directly contradict each other. For example, cats are rain drops that fall from the sky but, at the same time, cats come from seeds that humans plant in the soil and grow like plants, which adds a whole other layer of incoherence when even the individual absurd ideas are clashing with each other.

It reads like somebody who writes very surreal, metaphorical poetry decided to write in sentences and paragraphs but left everything else about their writing style the same. I love cats but I generally hate poetry, so this was an unpleasant experience overall.

The book's design (both the cover and the illustrations inside) is cute though.
