So that's where Dick Grayson went. After the luckluster conclusion to the short lived Grayson, I wasn't sure what to expect here.

Once again the status quo has been restored. Bruce is Batman, Dick is Nightwing again. I know it took him thirty or forty years to break out of the Robin persona, but I'm hoping he won't stay locked in as Nightwing forever. Don't get me wrong, I love Nightwing but having seen glimpses of him as Batman and a Spyral Agent I feel like he's destined to be more.

Having said that, this is an enjoyable return to the character. He has some nice moments with Bruce, Alfred and Babs. I've gotta hand it to Tim Seeley, he knows Dick Grayson.

The first half of this rates 2 stars, but the second half is closer to 3.5 stars, so I found a nice medium rating :).

While I was reading the first two chapters I was strongly considering stopping reading this entirely. The story was mediocre and I wasn't thrilled with the characters.

As the story goes; however, the tension and action begins to improve and the characters become more interesting.

Talon really makes this story, with Nightwing serving more as a foil to Talon for most of the volume.

My favorite parts of the story were the brief interactions between Batman and Nightwing, highlighting the differences between these two heroes.

This wasn't an amazing story, but it was enjoyable, and is a decent introduction to Nightwing as a character.

This is my first Nightwing comic. And I wasn't over the moon with it. But it was intriguing enough to continue for at least another volume.

This...did nothing for me. A lot of “hey remember where we were in Spyral, that’s cool, we’re over here now” and “I WAS RAISED IN THE CIRCUS OKAY!”

Also, the art got insanely rough at some points.

Well I hated this. What's the point of relaunching Nightwing just to keep it bogged down in Owls, Spyral, and circus mythology? I just want him to fight villains while trying to make his way in Bludhaven. Also, he should be fun. Not even Batgirl could knock this up a star.

In which I finally delve into Rebirth, and finally admit I prefer reading trade paperbacks than comic issues. So I accept, grudgingly, having to wait for compilations and always being a little behind.

I've also read enough Bat-family tales to be able to shrug my shoulders at my many questions of continuity. I just go with it.

Once that was out of the way, I enjoyed the ride. I like this group of Owls better than the Court of Owls, and I like the anti-hero Raptor as a foil and teacher. It's well-crafted, but slow to develop. I give Seeley credit that he doesn't get too bogged down in Nightwing's recent history, which changed rapidly in the past year or so. It works, if you know nothing about all that, and it works if you're looking for Easter eggs. The heavier the canon gets, the harder that is to juggle - my hat's off to Seeley on this one.

The beginning and the end are better than the middle. I'll read the next one - Nightwing is a lot more interesting now than he used to be. His baggage is our gain.

Never was it clearer to me that the Batman universe is about indoctrinating readers into hero-worship of the rich and rigid adherence to traditional laws and mores over the (dangerously socialist!) "greater good".

Really good artwork on this one! The story is pretty great too, with the undercover spying and all. Former Batman's Robin is now becoming Nightwing. Some may had not seen this coming but what can you do.

It is not super great story at some points, but it is pretty good overall. An enjoyable comic to read.
