Sue Jackson's daughter Charlotte is in a coma after having been hit by a bus. Sue tries to discover what exactly happened, Charlotte's diary indicates something was greatly amiss. Sue gives all the signs of being an unreliable narrator, so it's difficult to know whether her suspicions are correct or if they are a part of some recurring paranoia.

It took a while to get into the story, but the middle of the book is pretty riveting. Overall it's not stellar though, and I haven't decided just how much I dislike the ending. I will be reading more of this author regardless, it's easy entertainment. Easily read, quickly forgotten.

This book should be in the same shelf with Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl. Wow. Just wow. I cannot put it down. The Accident is mysterious, thrilling and TWISTED! Don't get me wrong, I am not a psycho but there's something in dark and twisted novels that attracts the bookworm in me. HAHA! I hate mushy and gooey love stories mind you BUT I love gore and bloodshed. The Accident is a mixture of both sprinkled with a twisted love story. Ooh! Now that's what you call the best recipe for a fast-paced novel. Two-thumbs up for C.L. Taylor's debut novel. More dark and twisted novels please. ☺️☺️

Absolutely loved this and flew through it. Nice short chapters that keep you wanting more.

This story is told through a dual timeline of the present day where Sue’s daughter is in a coma after walking in front of a bus and 20 years earlier to a significant time in Sue’s life. Sue stops at nothing to get to the bottom of what’s happened to her daughter. Lots of twists and red herrings. Overall a very easy, enjoyable read.
