A play about what constitutes art and the nature of friendship. I listened to a great recording featuring Brian Cox, Jeff Perry and Bob Balaban. I also remember my high school putting on a production of it. I was inspired to revisit it after seeing a production at the Guthrie Theater recently.

Perhaps the first play I have read beyond Shakespeare, so I am new to the game. While I was particularly frustrated by the interaction of these characters, I have to commend Reza for setting the scene to create such a moving dynamic. 8/10.

L’histoire est courte, simple, trois amis, une toile de peinture. Un pour, un contre un qui veut seulement garder ses deux meilleurs amis dans sa pathétique vie. En 80 pages, on découvre les relations complexes qu’entretiennent les trois personnages.

super intéressant, ça montre bien l’importance des clés de lecture/éléments de contexte pour comprendre une oeuvre (et les gens, aussi), tout n’est pas visible de tous

Marc est une figure presque divine, il pense que s’il ne voit rien dans l’œuvre c’est qu’il n’y a rien à y voir (oui, Marc est un gros snob ptdrr); paradoxalement c’est ce meme comportement qui l’abaisse au rang de monsieur tout le monde

il faut être capable d’accepter que, parfois, comprendre c’est ne pas comprendre: « En réalité, je ne supporte plus aucun discours rationnel, tout ce qui a fait le monde, tout ce qui a été beau et grand dans ce monde n’est jamais né d’un discours rationnel »

A very interesting short play that uses art (and some really contemporary discussions within) to explore the idea of friendship, change and relationships. The playwright shows some real insights into old friendships and the need to renew themselves to avoid stagnation, and this is explored vividly through the issue of the white painting. I particularly wnjoyed the end in which Marc reflects upon the meaning he finds in the painting, reaching some sort of conciliation.

Niente da fare, credo di amare alla follia questa scrittrice.
Le forme di quest’opera teatrale non si discostano poi molto da quelle di Il dio del massacro, ma la ripetizione non ha reso la lettura meno entusiasmante - anche perché argomenti e psicologia dei personaggi cambiano.
Un atroce e perverso litigio tra tre amici, in cui l’ipocrisia dei personaggi viene messa a nudo. Intelligente (non necessariamente in maniera gradevole) e incredibilmente divertente.
