Well I enjoyed the story enough to download the next book. I can understand keeping secrets about how wolves work and the process but the whole truth might have helped out here. I get the feeling that her father was an omega as well but decided to take his own life than continue to live under her. Why didn’t he prepare her better for that possibility? So many unanswered questions. But good enough and not as dark as I was expecting.

I like this new take on a omegaverse trope. It is definitely different! I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. Although the stubbornness from Black and Elena was off the charts. So was their chemistry. They were on fire!

Review for the entire trilogy:

A rare love triangle turned poly situation that balances the relationship development and doesn’t favor one MMC over the other. While there is some angst, it is not the focus and it adds to the development. Plus the angst is spread across general why is life like this for me, realistic miscommunication drama, past trauma and internal conflict/insecurity.

I loved that the author showed that Omega /beta/alpha are complex people outside of their designations. This omega has a backbone and doesn’t forget everything with one smell of her alpha.

Very satisfying Happy For Now ending

Elena grew up thinking she was an alpha, but was in fact an omega - a rare wolf who all alphas are drawn to, with dangerous results. Black found her and wants to keep her - against her will, but then also sometimes not.

I liked this story. Elena is a strong female character, has a bit of sass which I love, but Black can be a bit much. There were some scenes I wasn't sure I liked, and Elena was conflicted also, but overall I enjoyed the story.

Now I have to wait for book 2! I'm excited to see how it all goes down, after that ending.

I hate when I’m reading a book and I like one character better than the supposed mmc. Jonah was elite and far superior to Black. I was cheering for Jonah the whole time. It felt like Black didn’t even like Elena and was literally only there because she was omega. Ont he other hand the author spends lots of time talking about Jonah and Elenas bond - with the pair having lots of small romantic moments.
This book does say that it will eventually be a mfm but right now I just want Jonah and Elena. The book ends with Black killing the rival packs alpha who was also gunning to possess Elena whilst Elena and Jonah run away to be together without all the other assholes.

Defiant by Ann Denton is a dark, paranormal ménage romance and the first book in The Feral Princess series.

Defiant is a well-written shifter romance featuring Elena, a strong, sassy, wolf who was raised to be an Alpha. She has a dominant personality, and this makes her good friends with Jonah, the pack’s beta, who is submissive in their relationship and in love with Elena. Her first shift spontaneously happens later than expected and causes many complications. Elena encounters her pack’s alpha, Alpha Black, an alpha hole who really only cares about himself, in disputed territory and her life is in danger. Elena is actually a rare female shifter, an omega that many will desire. Alpha Black holds Elena captive and will stop at nothing to have her.

This book was unexpected. It’s dark, emotional, steamy, humorous, and has triggers. Told from multiple POVs it had likable characters and descriptive world-building. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and the fact that Elena has two love interests who are quite different and bring out different things in Elena. I’m invested in Elena’s story and the cliffhanger has me wanting more!

Trigger Warnings: Dubious consent, forced marriage, kidnapping
