It has good accounts of significant events and personalities from the first World War and how it impacted the lives of both the soldiers and the commoners, and even the brave animals that served. A lot of it is eurocentric yes, but I guess that's a consequence of documentation. I learnt about the Canary Girls, Pigeons, the Romanov Massacre and the good old Gavrilo's motivations.
