Sigh, it’s starting to get very stale. I use this series to sleep. Most/many/often series have similar plots and tropes and these are no exception, and the modern sensibility overlayed on 1940s culture is growing tired.

Solid 3.5. I’d read more Maggie Hope mysteries if I happened upon them, but it’s not my usual genre so probably won’t search them out purposefully. Recommend if this is a genre you enjoy!
Appreciated that I could pick this up out of sequence and not feel like I missed a lot of back story.

Maggie Hope goes to Washington! I liked this installment of the mystery series, only it wasn't super mysterious this time. But still a great story.

I am so conflicted about this series. I think the modern projections of societal interactions are probably inaccurate, and for heaven's sake, the technique of referring to gay people as being "like that" over and over is not particularly helpful or, I think, realistic. And as much as sometimes I just want to throw it down and be finished because things aren't fleshed out as well as I would prefer....I keep on reading because I want to see what happens with this one specific sub-plot. C'mon, let's get to some resolution already!!

A nice little series, just not my favorite one. But I'll keep reading them. I love the strong female characters and how the author weaves in bits of history into her story line.
