These truly are so bad and so cheesy, but they’re a guilty pleasure I guess.

This is a rushed cross review between Betrayed and Chosen.

In case you’re like me and you like to listen to the audiobooks while reading simultaneously, you might notice that the audiobook and the ebook, whilst mostly the same, do have some tiny differences. There’s definitely some… for lack of a better word… censorship for some terminology that is not as politically correct as it used to be. It was an interesting little dissonance.

Also.. holy hell do the terms “rentals” and “parental units” ever throw me right back into my preteen/teenage years!!

I just can’t get behind this series. There’s so many things I don’t like or care for, like the slut-shaming, the double standards, and the poor character development. I gave it 3 stars because of Aphrodite. She’s literally my favorite character and the most relatable. I loved that she stood up for Zoey when she needed someone to be real, I love her sarcasm, and I love how she sees past all the other characters’ bullshit. It was refreshing amongst all the annoying drama. Also, thank god Zoey no longer has three boyfriends. That was just horrendous.

Ughh. I've really been liking this series, but Zoey is annoying me sooo bad. She's messing around with 3 guys emotions, then makes the most stupid decision.. ugh! It was also pretty predictable, most of the "shockers" I saw coming. But I will read the next one, because I feel the need to finish everyyy series I start.

I can't get over why I want to continue reading this series. There are parts of it that I love - even though it's a YA book about vampires, there are some really original story elements. I love the parts with Nyx and the 5 elements, and the action scenes are really well done.

That being said, the grammar and language in this book is terrible. I don't know if it's because Kristin Cast (her daughter) helps her with the language so it's more appealing to teens. I don't think I was ever interested in reading variations of the word "ginormic" 150 times in a book. The amount of hostility and comments towards people of different races or different sexual preferences is disgusting.

The main character, Zoey, is such a hypocrite and I wish I could reach into the book and slap her.

That being said, I'll continue to read the rest of the series because they're just so addicting.
