2.25

Part 1 was really good and I'd be happy to give it a 4 star despite the descriptions of sexual fantasies towards 16 yr old girl.
Part 2 was so boring and dragged on forever. The world-building in part 1 was good, why did Murakami set part 2 in an ordinary library where nothing happens?
Near the end there were sexual fantasies AGAIN, and the biting / touching earlobe bit was weird. Ending redeemed itself by 0.25 stars.
I'm aware this is about personal preferences but I don't care about soul and shadow stuff. Not profound nor magical. Just pretentious.
