Going Wild was actually the first book by Lisa McMann that I read, and I remember immediately falling in love with the plot and writing style back when I first read this book. Even now, I really find myself enjoying Lisa McMann's writing style for this book, and the concept that the plot is centered around is also a pretty interesting one if I do say so myself. I have to admit there were some flaws in this book though, especially with the beginning being a bit slow for my taste, and the character honestly don't really act their age in my opinion... Despite that, this was still a pretty good read.

I chose this book because I really like the narrator, Shannon McManus, when she narrated Wings of Fire, and middle grade fantasy seems the most appealing to me during corona quarantine.
This was a good story, fun characters, though it did suffer a bit from the plot requiring characters not communicating with each other and children not reaching out to adults, but overall it was enjoyable and I will read or listen to the next book. :)

A wonderful superhero novel. Great characters but the physics could be more flushed out... but the others sciences sound good.

I should have stopped reading this one at so many points. I love middle grade, I promise! But this one was terribly written. To be fair, a large part of what I disliked about the story & development was the childish relationships and those probably play better to actual children. But the action, descriptions, pacing, and plot were all clunky and weird.
Too young for me and I'm too old for its errors. Would not recommend to an adult even if they love middle grade. Will not finish the trilogy.

I reread this book so I could finish the trilogy. From my first time, I only remember the ending so it was good to get a refresher. While the twists were not completely unpredictable, I think the characters were built out well and the drama that went on was realistic for this age group. The characters aren’t perfect people either which was actually pretty enjoyable. Some parts gave me second hand embarrassment, but overall this book was a great origin story with a cliffhanger that pushes the reader right into the next book.
