I liked this book and I even loved parts of it. The language is so normal and relatable. I first came across Nevo from his incredible short story Lemonade in the 2022 O’Henry Prize collection. This novel had a good amount of Lemonade’s humor and sadness.
It just went on too long. On page 459 (of 461) the author quotes a character: “Bro, I think you’re going to be a writer. But you have to learn when to stop.” I would say perhaps page 361 would have been a good place.

One of the most interesting concepts I have ever come across for a novel. The reader follows an author as his marriage breaks down and his work comes to a slow through a series of interview questions he answers over a period of a few months. The plot twist at the end is a heartwarming finish to an otherwise downhearted story.

not the most coherent or engaging or insightful or relatable - finished it out of hope that it would get better, but nuggets of enjoyment were few and far between
