Okay-the mystery has holes, the 90's hair and clothes are humorous, there's no way someone could survive this many "close calls" with dangerous people who have guns....but the tension between Stephanie, Ranger, and Morelli is what keeps me glued to my pile of Stephanie Plum novels. The cliffhanger in this one might have killed me if I couldn't grab #6 right away!
"Out of bail skippers and rent money, Stephanie Plum throws caution to the wind and follows in the entrepreneurial bootsteps of Super Bounty Hunter, Ranger, engaging in morally correct and marginally legal enterprises. So, a scumball blows himself to smithereens on her first day of policing a crack house and the sheik she was chauffeuring stole the limo. But hey, nobody's perfect! Anyway, Stephanie has other things on her mind. Her mother wants her to find Uncle Fred who's missing after arguing with his garbage company; homicidal rapist Benito Ramirez is back, quoting scripture and stalking Stephanie; vice cop Joe Morelli has a box of condoms with Stephanie's name on it; and Stephanie's afraid Ranger has his finger on her trigger. "

**SLIGHT SPOILERS***
There are fourteen books in this series, I think, and they are all fairly similar so far. I may not rate them all.
Stephanie is funny. For me, she isn't laugh-out-loud funny, but sometimes she makes me (oh, what word can I use that isn't corny?) 'giggle' a bit. HAHA
I like the love triangle that has developed between Ranger, Stephanie, and Morelli. It's worth continuing the series for, and these books are always entertaining.
Definitely a between-read. I like to read these to lighten up.

I find the Plum series quite entertaining and laugh out-loud funny. I sometimes get annoyed with Stephanie's lack of commonsense, however, I have come to realize that Ms. Plum is just not the sharpest tool in the shed and keep reading.
I'm ready for #6.

I had a harder time with this one, because the way everyone talks to Briggs was really bothering me. But I do love how Stephanie makes friends with everyone.

I just love this series! This episode ended with such a cliff hanger I ran to the library to get the next one. Love, love it!

I’m going to keep this brief, because I know sometimes posts about books that are second, third, or, as in this case, fifth in the series can get kind of tedious to all those who have not read the first few yet. All I will say before I get into things that may be slight spoiler territory is that I have had my ups and downs with this series (none of the books were awful, but some were definitely better than others), but this book was the best yet. The Stephanie Plum series is chick lit with a lovely blend of humor and mystery, and while this mystery in this book was rather so-so, the humor was top notch.
In this Stephanie Plum novel, she’s looking out for family. Her Uncle Fred has gone missing, and out of duty, Stephanie agrees to help look for him. In the meantime, she befriends an angry dwarf and sketchy bookie, wrecks several cars, gets hot and steamy with not one but two men, and finds herself in the middle of a shooting… three times. Altogether, this book was fast-paced and adventurous, although the mystery was a little lacking.
I physically laughed out loud in this book more than any other, but I was also able to guess the mystery about halfway through. You win some, you lose some. I would much rather read a hilarious book than one that kept me guessing, though, so I was extremely pleased with how this book turned out.

Fun!!!
Stephanie Plum is like that crazy girl who is a friend of a friend that you love hearing all the dirt on. This character is down-to-earth & farfetched at the same time. A fun read!!
