why is almost every character in this book a war criminal. this sucks but i cant put it down tf

Sleeping Giant's feels very much like a book which lays the groundwork for a great series. Told as a series of interview transcripts conducted by an unknown agent, the book follows the discovery and subsequent scientific exploration of an alien robot buried on Earth. It is somewhat slow paced, however with themes of power, found family, betrayal, and resilience, it never felt dull or like an info-dump. Mysterious and teetering on the edge of great adventure, I can't wait to read the rest of the series. 

yes, yes, yes ! i am obsessed with the science-y bits and finding out exactly what's going on with this giant. very keen with the fact the giant is a woman too :) listening to the audiobook has made me attached to the characters. i find Nuevel's ability to develop the characters so well with the unique interview format an ability i admire greatly. mystery guy, Kara, and Vincent are def. my favorite, especially mystery guy. he's such an entertaining character to follow. reminds me of the interviewer from The Amelia Project. the DRAMA is sooo enjoyable and a great addition to the more serious themes. i found myself gasping and having to rewind in order to properly process what I had just listened to. found family / people coming together over time is one of my favorite tropes to read about. that exists in this book seeing as this group of scientist spends A LOT of time together. just another aspect that makes me like the book even more. if ur not interested in the science bit, then I wouldn't recommended this one because it is mostly that. if u do, go for it because this book is astonishing. a step better would be listening to the audiobook.
