I generally quite enjoy this series, but in this one I was surprised to find myself more invested in the overarching problem-solving rather than the romance. I don't know if I found Ruvan very interesting, but it didn't matter much because Elise Kova is very good at creating knotty predicaments and undoing them within the rules of her world. Aside from some anachronistic speech, there's good research on smithing which shows in the depth of the writing. Also I want silver sickles now.

I enjoyed this one much more than the first 2. It was an interesting take on vampire lore and I felt like it fit into the overall world building of the series very well. The main narrator was much better than book 2’s. Looking forward to continuing the series.

I really tried to like this series but it was terribly Boring.
{if there would have been half star, I would give 1,5}

After all this "Air Awakens series, Air Awakens: Vortex Chronicles Series, A Trial of Sorcerers Series" she wrote made me believe that she can write good, smart and capable women characters, she disappointed me in these.

Floriane's so annoyingly boring, dense, ignorant and hypocritical. and I don't think one second that she changed a bit. Even before Ruvan said “How are you so dense?, I said 'how dense can you be' when he was trying to communicate with her first time.
She's constantly in denial, debating with herself, blaming them and so very suddenly she could understand everything. I understand her life and how she raised but the rest of her characteristics I wrote above nothing to do with that. it's still boring to read her mumbling the same things over and over again.
The only cool thing about her must be her being a forge maiden.

She of all people tried to accuse Ruvan for hypocrisy and can't believing the Vampir have something to do with the curse, more than half of the book until the end she was the one who try to turn everything against them.
and suddenly she's so smart and capable and understand everything before the Vamir does, everyone looks up to her, listening her and she's a last moment hero.

I questioned myself over and over again how he could fall in love with someone like Her! and then the writer said I could make him boring and slightly annoying like her to make them fit together.

None of the feelings between them make me felt anything, it's mostly because of her, not because she's unexperienced but because I don't think she has that ability of being in love or what's written in there. Whenever she talked about it inside her head, he did this he did that, I was laughing. pfffftttt. in the other hand Vampir can be sexy and all those things, I like Vampirs but her???!!! (btw we, in our own language say it like that too, without 'e' at the end; Vampir)

Every time she opens her mouth I wanted her to die. it would be more heroic like she's intend to do at the ending but he saved her, damn him.

At the beginning she says 'she should be less than 20 to get to marry' and later she tells Ruvan that she's 19 but in the cover she looks way older and he doesn't seem that glamorous and beautiful either in the cover. the cover is good in itself but the characters she told inside aren't in it.

Lastly, if you read the first two books (the first one was far more better than last two), you could guess what would be happening in this one beforehand. there's not much of a surprise. there's no plot twist.
