She's such a talented writer, I loved every single page of the book, I felt every word, I lived with it, the book lived within me, I couldn't put it down, it's too beautiful that you need to keep on reading, you kind of feel all sort of things, from happiness to sadness to all other different feelings, you smile and even cry as you go on this journey, you get mad, you relate to it on another level.. I felt like I was Khaled, I had his feelings, felt everything as if I was there.. I loved it and I can't wait to read the rest of the triology.

A love story between a veteran of the Algerian independence and his fallen comrade's daughter. While moving, many, many paragraphs were dedicated to describing an Oedipal love that left me uncomfortable. The writing was ultimately poetic (sometimes I felt as if I was reading Arabic poetry) but I wanted more.
