First of all, OMG THIS WAS SO CUTE AND WONDERFUL AND AMAZING. I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. The chemistry between Samantha and Jace is just OVNJRNRIVEJWNJJ (read EXPLOSIVE). I couldn't put this down once I started it. I was very impressed with this one. It was no typical young adult book. Now, I love me some YA, but MLND almost leans into NA. It just dips, just a little, but stays within the YA range. This is due to some sexual content and language. But, don't worry it's not too much. Though I'm pretty sure there is some mention of drugs as well. Anyway, this book is great. It will shock you and please you and amaze you. The characters are so wonderfully unique and interesting. I love weird families and romance. This was just perfect. I was wrapped in its atmosphere of young love and hard choices, saturated in the sadness of the outcomes of certain choices we make. I highly recommend this! Beautiful, tender, and crushing, this book with both steal your heart and render you speechless.

I liked this, but thought the "twist" was a little overwrought and perhaps too much drama? I guessed a bunch of predictable scenarios that would have served it better, I think. Regardless, I still enjoyed the book and the characters. Tim was totally the most interesting part to me.

I fully intended for this to be one of those books that you read and then rate, but block from your update feed because it's embarrassing. But DAMN was it good! I was very pleasantly surprised. No teenage angst from the main character (a bit too much from the boring best friend and her twin), thank God, and not too predictable. A little predictable, but not too much.
I also liked that the main character wasn't perfect. That is far too prevalent in YA fiction, to have a perfect, beautiful, flawless main character (I'm looking at you, Divergent and Hunger Games). I also didn't hate Samantha, which I do a lot in YA fiction, because the protagonists are far too bratty. Jase was almost too perfect, but had his moments when he got angry and showed flaws.
So, yea, that was my weekend, and yea, I'll definitely read the sequel. When this is a movie, I hope they spend all their budget on getting Meryl Streep as Grace Reed and Matthew McConaughey as the campaign manager. That's all.

Another complex book, but this time with an adorable romance and so many cute spots to lighten the mood.

I really enjoyed this book. Even when things got bad there was still an air of positivity.
Love the Garrett family. George and Patsy stole the show. Jase is good to his core. The book ended happier but I would love to know more about him and Sailor Supergirl. I know the next is about Tim but maybe they will play a big part.
Jase is just so good that him and his dad helped to turn Tim around. Tim really stepped up to help the Garrett family out.

I really loved this book. I did. I loved Samantha's character, and unlike many female protaganists she didn't annoy the hell out of me, because she was real!
She was real and she was imperfec and she knew that her problems were miniscule compared to that of the Garrett's and she really struggled with the dilemma, like any of us would.
And Jase, God did i love Jase! I'm really starting to hate authors for giving me such unattainable standards for boys when they present me with ones like Jase. The way their relationship sort of progressed slowly was perfect, I mean it was just so sweet yo know?
THe only thing that prevented me from giving this book a full 5 stars was the ending, because in my opinion it felt far too rushed, but everything else i felt was great.
Definitely would reccomend to any YA fans!

It was a quick and compelling read but also it kind of pissed me off? Although Clay reminded me of a few people I know, which may explain part of that.

A good read- lost its way in the middle and I nearly gave up but I was happy I stuck with it.

Cute YA novel about a girl who falls in love with the boy next door, whom her mother does not approve of. Pretty slow throughout, then it speeds up oddly at the end. And of course the boy is 100% perfect.
The following quote cracked me up, about a character who has a 17yo son: "What kind of man was young in the eighties and doesn't recognize marijuana?" (p46). I'm assuming this means he was born in the 70s and that just sounds young to me. I was born in the 80s and I'm nowhere near having a 17yo kid. And I don't think of the 80s as a pot-heavy decade but maybe I'm wrong.

I love love love this book. This is the perfect book to read on vacation, which I did twice; Florida and Vegas.
This wonderful, adorable book is about Samantha becoming a part of the Garrett family, aka the family her mother has always resented for being too loud and messy. Theres Joel, Alice, Jase, Andy, Duff, Harry, George and Patsy. (I think I got all of them?! Oh and Mrs Garrett is pregnant at the end of the book) Samantha and Jase quickly fall in love but they are actually pretty smart. In a lot of books, sex just happens, but Samantha and Jase go condom shopping together and plan it out and Jase is constantly reminding Samantha that they dont have to do it if she is uncomfortable. I just thought he was very sweet about the whole thing, despite the fact that he was also a virgin.
After her mother falls under the spell of her phony politics boyfriend, Clay, Samantha has to make a choice between her own family and her new family next door after her mother is part of a hit and run that leaves Mr Garrett in serious condition in the hospital.
Personally, I feel like Samantha should have told Jase right away when she put the pieces together that connected her mom to the accident. She chooses to break up with him, which I thought was cruel because Jase was already distraught over his dad. But she eventually did make the right choice.
A side character that gets overlooked is Tim. Tim is the twin of Samanthas best friend, Nan and he is a drug addict and an alcoholic. The Garretts also change Tim's life by steering him in the right direction. In the end, he is the one who tells Samantha that she needs to tell Jase who hit his dad. I like Tim because he admits more than once that he finds Samantha hot but he never, ever made a move. He respected that she's in love with Jase.
Overall, this book is fantastic and I love it.
