This book was much better than the first as in the story went faster and there were no filler chapters. The part about Ash's, emotions being twisted up was not backed up enough. I felt like it was quite randomly squished in. I understand that's what the side effects were of fighting that monster but it wasn't mentioned and other than the other character saying, are you okay from time to time, it wasn't at all looked at or explained. The story flowed much better than the first book. There was more action, there was a lot less chapters where nothing seemed like it was happening. I really like how there was that element of everyone forgetting one specific event or major species. That was cool and I did not see it coming. Even though the rest of the book was somewhat predictable, but I quite like that.

Ash has earned a soul and can be with the love of his life, Queen Meghan. He knew his life would not be full of comfort, but he didn’t expect to face an even harder challenge. Their son, who is also the king of the Forgotten, is missing and they have learned that Evenfall approaches. Will the different Fey be able to put aside their differences to stop Evenfall? Will Ash lose his soul, his love, or possibly everything?

The Iron Sword is the second book in the spinoff Iron Fey series, Evenfall, and is the twelfth book if all the series are put together. I will start by saying don’t jump into this series without having read the primary works. This story pulls from many of the previous novels and the challenges between characters won’t be as easily understood without them. This continuation of the Iron Fey saga will have all readers excited to learn more about these characters and I have been left wanting the next installment to be written and released.

Somehow I read Iron Raven and Iron Vow before realising Iron Sword existed so this book made a lot more sense to the Evenfall series after lmao. It was so good, I really do love Ash perspectives and I love it when he makes a mistake because he usually is so certain of himself. His inner narration is perfect.

I cannot completely put my finger on what, but something felt missing. There wasn't the same magic as the bulk of the other books despite this one being from the POV of one of my favorite characters. It was pretty repetitive at times and I often felt disconnected from the story instead of immersed in it. I still had fun and was entertained. I liked seeing all the characters again and will read on to see where it goes. This new spin off just isnt my favorite at the moment.

I am pulling teeth for the next one to come out. I am absolutely thriving from this series taking life again.

For some reason, I had it in my head that this trilogy would all be from Puck's point of view, so I was initially thrown off by entering on Ash's. It works fine, I just wasn't expecting it. And it does make sense that, of course, Meghan and Ash would get involved in this quest given the reveals at the end of the previous book. Overall, it was another exciting quest for the group. It did feel like there were some minor missteps that just seemed to be a way to work some familiar faces in (
SpoilerDid they really need someone else to tell them to go check and see if Keirran was hanging out at Ethan's? That seems like it would have been a logical early step without having to risk giving away a favor.
), but it didn't stop me from enjoying the journey and immediately starting the final book!
