I was really afraid going into this that I would be utterly lost, so I had the Wikipedia page's plot summary ready to roll. I was relieved to find this text way more accessible than I anticipated it to be.

I found the Introduction to be intriguing, too, when Bentley distinguished translation from adaptation.

A lovely read with a suspenseful plot, emotional romance and quite funny side stories. Many great messages along the path of Grusha and Azdak that can be taken to heart, though sometimes they're a bit too on the nose.

There were a lot of problematic points in it -Azdak's reaction to the rape case in particular- but I liked how strong and determined Grusha was. It's possible I would like it more if I see it performed, as I can never give the characters enough life when I'm reading them to myself.

Read this for one of my university courses. I’m a little confused about some parts, but it was interesting enough.
