Barney Stintson's The Playbook is an amusing bathroom reader from the world of How I Met Your Mother. Like the similar Bro Code, it has its roots in the popular sitcom, though in this case, there's far more material you'll recognize from the show. Barney DOES, after all, use the Playbook a lot even when it's not mentioned outright. Even if you do recognize many of the plays, the style of writing adds a lot of jokes (in Barney's trademark sexist voice) and is as good an example of "lad culture" humor as any. Fun, but not in any way essential.

It's exactly how you think it would be- nothing more, nothing less. Funny, too! Would recommend for any How I Met Your Mother fan.

Good for light reading. Also a short read. I could not get Mozart's "Rondo All Turca" out of my head while I read, so thanks for that HIMYM.

Ties right in with the show. I read this in less than two hours.

funny but the fact that the book was finished before the tv show was notable... the humour of the show was captured wonderfully. my favourite play would have to be "the girl" even if it is not quite so accurate.

It was as ridiculous as I expected. Had me laughing pretty hard on my lunch break. For the length of it though, I wish it was cheaper. I read it in about an 1.5 hours.

I liked it better than The Bro Code. 98% of the plays are crazy, but I was actually able to pick up a line or two from this one. But I think you have to watch the series to get some of the references . (Ted as Billy Idol. :) )
