Average - decent depictions of mental illness, but an unrealistic “recovery” arc for the main character which relied heavily on him having a crush on a girl in the psych ward with him? All in all mid-tier.

i wish i read this when i was younger, like in 8th grade, because i felt sort of awkward reading this as a young adult; however, the message was still very relevant and if you are a young adult and haven’t read it and are struggling with depression then it might be a book worth checking out
